Deserving a Post of it's Own

Being the "LOST" lovers that we are... we decide to go check out some of the filming locations on Oahu (and there are MANY!!) I tried to find pictures of the actual LOST scenes to match the ones we took as best as I could but some aren't very good. While we were checking out these places we realized the "magic" of TV and how they can digitally touch up anything. However, it was still really fun to check out these places wishing we could have seen them in action...

I couldn't find a picture of Kate hiding in this tree, but this is the tree (or area of the trees) where she hides from the black smoke stuff in the first season. The above trees, where Charlie is hung, is in a different area. They still have a rope hanging from the tree with a sign that reads "Do Not Remove"!

All the pictures below are from Papailo Beach which was just about 6 miles from the beach where we stayed. This beach is the area in which they film the "survivors" base camp. We spent over an hour on this beach walking up and down looking and recognizing various things from the show. It was pretty cool! We got there at about 9:30 in the morning on Saturday and the first thing we saw was this orange fence back in the trees where they stored various things from the set when they were not filming. The beach is public so we could walk up and down it freely without anyone bothering us, however, on the other side of the vegetation line is private property and they have security guards 24/7 to guard the area. As we were walking up and down the beach there was a security guard on an atv who kept following us to make sure we didn't try and sneak onto the area (it was actually pretty funny how tenacious he was; he would NOT give up). While we were walking around it seemed like they must have just been taping the day before because there were power boxes in the bushes and you could see the lines in the sand from the power cords being dragged into the bushes! It was pretty crazy. Anyway, I decided to ask the security guard if he knew when they would be taping again. He said they actually had just finished a 5 day shoot at 4 o'clock that morning!!! He said there was tons of action going on - arrows being shot, people getting beat up... Man we were so bummed... but we figured that when they were shooting we wouldn't be able to get anywhere close to the area. Oh - not true! They let you stand right behind they filming crew, said friendly security guard. They are really accommodating! - AHHH! We couldn't believe we came SO close to seeing them film the show! We even debated checking out the area the night before but decided to wait until morning.... so frustrating.

If you look really close at the picture above you can see the line in the sand. Note the rocks in the picture below, we are sitting on the rocks in our picture...
The guard took this last picture of us standing in an area where they do some of the filming. You can see plants and flowers they have brought in to make the area look different. - So close, yet so far... :)

That is so cool! I love going to "famous" spots like that - they may ONLY be popular in pop culture but they make me happy.
